2022 MAEOE Conference: Environmental Education for the future; engage, educate, empower. Find out more about in-person and virtual opportunities.
UPDATE: This year we have decided to hold a virtual conference due to continued health concerns and the upsurge Covid-19 cases.
Conference dates: Feb 4 and 5, 16, 23, 26
The 2022 MAEOE Conference theme is Environmental Education for the future; engage, educate, empower. Environmental education encourages exploration and deeper understanding of environmental issues in their current and future state, engagement in problem-solving, and taking action to improve and protect the environment. It not only prepares our youth for jobs, stewardships, etc. but also strengthens their knowledge and skills needed to address complex environmental challenges and develop solutions for sustainability.
We are pleased and honored to have Chris Hill as this year's MAEOE Conference keynote speaker. From childhood, Chris's love for the outdoors and drive to explore taught her the deep importance of wild spaces, the importance of conservation, and built a strong desire in her to protect it now and for future generations. Her career includes vast work experience as an environmental advocate at the state, regional, and federal levels.
Chris Hill has a deep desire for social justice and a passion for the outdoors. She has been an avid adventurer since she was young, backpacking, climbing, snowboarding, and fly fishing all over. As an environmental lobbyist for the past decade and currently the Senior Campaign Director for the Our Wild America Campaign at Sierra Club, Chris’ desire for a just, equitable and sustainable future, one in which all people benefit from clean air, clean water, and equitable access to the outdoors is rooted in community-based organizing. We look forward to hearing about her journey. Prepare to be inspired!
