Green Team Teacher Stipends
Stipends granted to teachers leading student Green Teams. Teachers participating in the program receive Maryland Green Schools resources and program support.
Grant Details:
- Total funding available: $20,000
- Amount of each stipend: $250.00
- Number of stipends available: 80 (one stipend per school)
- Deadline to Apply: Rolling through February 2022
- Project Submission Deadline: April 1, 2022
- Funds Awarded by: May 31, 2022
Eligibility Requirements:
- Teachers from Green Schools or teachers from schools that are considering becoming Green Schools.*
- Must lead a youth Green Team.
- Can teach any grade or subject area at a school.
* One teacher from a school will be awarded grant money. If there are multiple teachers working with the Green Team, teachers will divide funds on their own.
Grant Requirements:
- Confirm acceptance of grant and submit all paperwork within two weeks of receiving award letter.*
- Attend a virtual Green Leader Training
- Convene the student Green Team 2 to 3 times during the award period.
- Have your Green Team create a short virtual presentation that could be highlighted during the virtual segments of the 2022 Youth Summit.
- Submit completed Green Team projects by April 1, 2022.
Project Guidelines:
- Projects should focus on expectations for the future, solutions students have initiated and how they are making a difference at their schools
- Some ideas to get your Green Team started could include:
- Green Schools strive for excellence in resource efficiency, health and wellness, and environmental and sustainability education. How does your school strive to be green?
- Environmental justice is making sure that everyone has a fair chance of living the healthiest life possible. How can you help to elevate the voices of impacted communities?
- People all over the world are working hard to tackle climate change and make the world a better place. How can you be part of that journey?

* Grant funds will be disbursed approximately one month after the grant requirements are met and a project is submitted.
